On January 18th community based organizations from around the nation will come together to voice their opposition to offshore wind projects,

Organized and sponsored by the recently formed coalition NOOA (the National Offshore-wind Opposition Alliance), public demonstrations will be held in numerous locations on both the east and west coasts, including Richmond VA, Ocean City NJ, Long Beach NY and Morro Bay, CA.

There are over 18 regional offshore wind groups participating currently with the numbers growing daily. Some of the notable groups participating are Green Oceans, REACT Alliance, Protect Our Coast LINY, Save the East Coast and CFACT. The actions in each location will be as individual as the groups and the locations they are representing; from outdoor protest rallies and marches, indoor gatherings with expert speakers and music, to pop up guerilla protests.

This will be a never-before-seen public outcry of national solidarity and opposition to the destructive, costly, and inefficient offshore wind industry. “We will all be saying “END IT!” in no uncertain terms with one unified voice,” says Mandy Davis, president of NOOA .She further explains; “the reasons for organizing a nationwide OSW opposition action are numerous and varied, but the main impetus for protesting at this juncture is to remind our incoming administration that there are millions of coastal citizens that are negatively impacted by the offshore wind industry and that we are looking to our new President and his cabinet to do as they have promised…to END IT!”
